Li-Ning Company Limited (“Li-Ning”) was founded in 1990 by Mr. Li Ning, a world renowned gymnast from China.

Having earned a total of one-hundred-and-six gold medals during the course of his competing years, Mr. Li Ning is considered to be
one of the most outstanding athletes of the 20th century.

The 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles marked one of Mr. LiNing’s most memorable performance when he an astonishing three gold
medals, two silver medals and one bronze medals. This later earned Li-Ning the titled of one of the “World’s Most Excellent Athletes in
the 20th Century” by the World Sports Correspondent Association.


Since its beginnings over two decades ago, Li-Ning has established itself as one of the leading and the  most prominent sports companies
in the world with more than 8,000 retail stores across the globe.

The “Li-Ning” Logo

The “Li-Ning” logo is a combination of:

– the Chinese character for “people” (seen on the right-hand-side in the above picture); and
– the “L” that is created when a particular gymnastics move is performed (seen on the left-hand-side in the above picture).

The logo, which can be abbreviated to the letters “L” and “N” is a representation of Li-Ning’s mission “to inspire everyone’s dreams”
through sports.


In 2012 Li-Ning launched its Li-Ning brand of badminton equipment and apparel in India. Haven taken the Indian market by storm,in a
short period of just one year, Li-Ning has become synonymous with providing high quality, inimitable badminton products in India.


In addition to being a leading sports brand, Li-Ning is also famous for its involvement in major national and international sporting


In 2008 at the Beijing Olympic Games, Li-Ning sponsored what came to be known as China’s gold medal winning team when it won
gold medals in the following sports:
– Badminton (the Chinese National Badminton Team is currently the number one badminton team in the world, and includes Lin Dan
the reigning men’s singles Olympic badminton champion);
– Table tennis;
– Diving;
– Gymnastics; and
– Shooting.


Li-Ning also prides itself in sponsoring some of the best badminton players in India, including Jwala Gutta, Chetan Anand, Arvid Bhat and Anup Sridhar.

To create an even greater market presence in the Indian market, Li-Ning recently announced its sponsorship agreement with the Nikhil Kanetkar Badminton Academy in Pune, which is administered by the former badminton elite-turned-coach, Mr. Nikhil Kanetkar.

Li-Ning also proudly sponsors Tom’s Badminton Academy in Bangalore, coached by one of India’s leading badminton coaches, Mr.Tom John. Mr. John has over three decades of coaching experience spanning across countries such as United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and France, to name a few.

With its popularity growing notably each year, in 2013, Li-Ning is proud to announce the inauguration of the SNVP – Li-Ning Badminton Academy at the Ad Astra School of Sports, Meerut.

Other notable initiatives undertaken by Li-Ning in India, include:

– State badminton association sponsorship for Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand and

– Sponsorship of the “Arratt Fighters” team in the Karnataka Badminton League;
– Sponsorship of the Pune School National Games in 2012; and
